Our Ant Control Service

Ants can be found throughout Michigan and pose a threat to both food and property due to their destructive nature. Given their highly social behavior, the presence of a single ant often indicates the likelihood of additional ants soon appearing.

To ensure effective removal, call Four Seasons Exterminating; we guarantee our services! Our team of technicians are highly trained in accurately identifying ant species and employing the appropriate methods for their eradication.

Our Approach To Ant Control & Removal Service

Effective ant control often requires finding and treating the colony. The first step in eliminating an ant infestation in your home is to identify the species of ant.

There are many ants found in our neighborhood. Some of the most common Ants in Michigan are Carpenter, Pavement, and Odorous Ants. However, there are several species of ants that are commonly found in Michigan:

1. Carpenter Ants (Camponotus spp.)

Carpenter ants are large ants that can vary in size and color. They usually nest in wood and can cause damage to structures. They are commonly black or reddish-black. Carpenter ants are also considered wood-destroying, destructive insects.

2. Pavement Ants (Tetramorium caespitum)

Pavement ants are small ants that are commonly found in urban areas. They create small mounds of soil on pavements and sidewalks. They are usually dark brown or black.

3. Odorous House Ants (Tapinoma sessile)

Odorous house ants are small ants that emit a distinct odor when crushed. They are commonly found in homes and buildings, particularly near food sources. They are brown or black in color.

4. Thief Ants (Solenopsis molesta)

Thief ants are tiny ants that are often found in homes and buildings. They are known for their habit of stealing food from other ants’ colonies. They are light brown or yellowish in color.

5. Field Ants (Formica spp.)

Field ants are medium-sized ants that are typically found outdoors. They build large mounds in open areas such as lawns and fields. They can vary in color, including red, black, or a combination of both.

6. Allegheny Mound Ants (Formica exsectoides)

Allegheny mound ants are larger ants that build large mounds in open areas. They are known for their aggressive behavior and can have a reddish-brown color.

7. Acrobat Ants (Crematogaster spp.)

Acrobat ants are small to medium-sized ants that get their name from their ability to raise their abdomen over their head when disturbed. They are usually brown or black and are commonly found near trees and shrubs.

The acrobat ant earns its common name by raising its abdomen over its thorax and head as a defensive response to disturbance. This group of ants consists of multiple species, and while they may bite occasionally, they also emit an unpleasant odor when provoked.

8. Thatching Ants (Formica obscuripes):

Thatching ants are medium-sized ants that create thatch-like nests using plant materials. They are typically found in wooded areas and can have a reddish-brown color.

Ant Treatments | Pest Control Treatments For Ants

There are many ways to TRY and exterminate Ants. But there are only two, maybe three, that can effectively exterminate an Ant infestation.

One of the most effective ways to exterminate ants is by using the best products available and having highly trained technicians.

Four Seasons Exterminating uses a strategic method by creating a barrier. This barrier, also called a perimeter, helps control ant infestations by not allowing ants to leave the area, hence cutting off their food supply. This barrier is made by applying insecticides around the perimeter of a building or infested area. These insecticides are designed to remain active for an extended period because they repel or kill ants that come into contact with them.

Nest Removal:

If the ant infestation is localized and the nest is identifiable (finding a nest is absolutely thrilling for pest control technicians)!  If one is identified, we may physically remove the ant nest. This helps eliminate the source of the problem and prevents further infestation.

Inclusion:

Four Seasons Exterminating is your Go-To pest control professionals for Ant Infestations. Depending on the circumstances, we may also recommend physical barriers to prevent ants from entering a building. This can include sealing cracks, gaps, and other entry points that ants use to gain access. Weatherstripping around doors and windows, installing door sweeps, and repairing damaged screens can help create a physical barrier against ants.

Cultural Controls:

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices emphasize cultural controls that can deter ants. This includes keeping the area clean and free of food debris, promptly cleaning up spills, storing food in airtight containers, and maintaining proper sanitation practices. We also like to think of this as before to Prevent Infestations!

Four Seasons Exterminating has expertise in assessing the specific ant species, the extent of the infestation, and determining the most appropriate treatment method.

Since 1987, we can tailor our approach to the particular situation to ensure effective ant control and extermination and then integrate IPM to minimize any potential future risks. Our Ant Control Service is Guaranteed for 60 Days!

Frequently Asked Questions

Ants invade homes looking for food and water. So if you leave dirty dishes in the sink, food residue on your counters, or crumbs on the floor, you’re essentially inviting meal-seeking ants into your home. This becomes a problem when those ants set up their nests in your walls, on your lawn, and around your home’s foundation.

Ant infestations are a pretty big deal. One of the biggest problems related to ants is food contamination. Ants carry bacteria on their bodies, which spreads when they crawl in your sink and across your countertops. Now, only a few ant species carry insect-borne diseases, but finding any ants in your home is an unpleasant surprise.

To get your ant problem under control, a proper inspection is your very first step. This allows us to design a unique program for your specific situation. So please give us a call at 989-352-7777 to schedule your ant inspection. Our team is thoroughly trained in eliminating ant colonies and will keep these pests where they belong: out of your business and home.
