Our Mole Control Service

Are you noticing soft tunnels, mounds, or uneven ground in your yard? You might have mole activity, and it can quickly destroy a healthy lawn if left untreated. At Four Seasons Exterminating, we specialize in professional mole control, offering reliable baiting and trapping services designed to eliminate active mole infestations and prevent recurring issues.

Protect Your Lawn from Moles

Moles are small, burrowing mammals that live underground and feed primarily on earthworms and grubs. While they don’t eat grass or plants directly, their tunneling disrupts root systems, leaving your lawn soft, lumpy, and damaged. Our customized mole control program is designed to detect, eliminate, and prevent mole activity using effective and humane methods.

Mole Control in Michigan | Identification & Elimination

Effective mole control starts with identifying the type of mole causing damage to your lawn. While moles don’t feed on grass or plants directly, their tunneling can cause significant damage to your lawn by uprooting grass, creating soft spots, and destroying root systems. In Michigan, there are a few species of moles responsible for most lawn destruction.

Common Types of Moles in Michigan

1. Eastern Mole (Scalopus aquaticus)

The Eastern mole is the most common mole in Michigan. It has velvety gray fur, large spade-like forefeet, and a short tail. These moles prefer moist, sandy soils and are known for their surface runways and molehills. They primarily feed on earthworms, grubs, and other soil invertebrates.

2. Star-Nosed Mole (Condylura cristata)

Easily recognized by the 22 fleshy appendages radiating from its snout, the star-nosed mole is found in wet lowland areas, including marshes and near streams. Though less common in residential areas, they can still cause turf damage and create visible surface tunnels.

3. Hairy-Tailed Mole (Parascalops breweri)

Less common than the other two, the hairy-tailed mole can be found in forested areas of Michigan. It has a thick body, large paws, and — as the name suggests — a furry tail. It lives deeper underground and tends to create fewer visible tunnels.

Signs You Have Moles

  • Raised ridges across the lawn (surface tunnels)
  • Molehills (soil pushed up in small volcano-shaped mounds)
  • Uneven or spongy ground
  • Rapid deterioration of lawn in isolated spots

Our Mole Control Strategy

Baiting

We use scientifically proven mole baits that mimic the mole’s natural food sources, such as earthworms. These baits are strategically placed in active tunnels.

Trapping

We also use specialized traps to intercept and remove active moles. Our traps are placed in high-traffic tunnel systems and monitored closely for success.

Follow-Up Treatments

Depending on mole activity, follow-up visits are essential to ensure complete elimination. We continue service until your yard is mole-free.

We offer two primary treatment methods depending on your property’s needs:

Pricing is based on standard-sized yards and average mole activity. Larger or more complex yards may require a custom quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ants invade homes looking for food and water. So if you leave dirty dishes in the sink, food residue on your counters, or crumbs on the floor, you’re essentially inviting meal-seeking ants into your home. This becomes a problem when those ants set up their nests in your walls, on your lawn, and around your home’s foundation.

Ant infestations are a pretty big deal. One of the biggest problems related to ants is food contamination. Ants carry bacteria on their bodies, which spreads when they crawl in your sink and across your countertops. Now, only a few ant species carry insect-borne diseases, but finding any ants in your home is an unpleasant surprise.

To get your ant problem under control, a proper inspection is your very first step. This allows us to design a unique program for your specific situation. So please give us a call at 989-352-7777 to schedule your ant inspection. Our team is thoroughly trained in eliminating ant colonies and will keep these pests where they belong: out of your business and home.
